Check out our BLOG to learn more about who we are!

Horses have many gifts to offer us, with one of the greatest being their embodiment of truth and congruence.  With the partnership between therapist and horse and your courage, may you find yourself “heard” much beyond your words.

What can you expect from a session at Heard Wellness Through Horses Inc.?

At Heard Wellness Through Horses we offer therapy and coaching to people who are struggling to gain their footing in life.  The therapist’s expertise and the horse’s wisdom create a dynamic environment for deep healing, growth and powerful change.

Every session at Heard Wellness through Horses is unique.  Some programs have pre-determined experiences (Youth and Team Building) based on company, school or program goals, while others are completely dependant on what occurs in the moment!

One of our fundamental beliefs is that the therapist is NOT an expert on you, rather an expert in facilitation of experiences that challenge clients to become more aware of their own behaviours, values and beliefs, where they come from, and completion of those pieces which are no longer of service.

Let us help you to get to the root of what stops you from living your life fully and authentically, and clean it up through experiential interventions so that you can move forward in relationships, dreams and fulfillment!

This means more than just talking during a session…  you can expect to:

  • Be in contact with horses, sometimes with them at liberty and other times on lead
  • Have physical and emotional safety of client AND horse to be reviewed at each session
  • Experience somatic (body sensation), traditional talk therapy, positive coaching, equine psychology, and facilitation all weaved together throughout your session
  • Have your awareness of yourself expanded through self-understanding, appreciation and self-compassion
  • Step into vulnerability at varying levels.  During private sessions, clients may become emotional and are supported to fully express themselves in the confidential and safe space of the barn, while in team building the focus is to grow in ways that benefit the team and staying within the guardrails of what is safe to espress in front of colleagues (NOT healing past trauma or deep process work).

The other day a friend and I attended an introductory session with Amy. I arrived to the session without expectations having no idea of the outcome from a skilled social worker and a horse.  I can honestly say that this session was one of the most moving and powerful experiences I have had in my life.

Amy is masterful as a social worker providing a very safe environment to allow any emotion to surface. Bart, her horse, provides a powerful backdrop to ensure one can be present during well-crafted exercises Amy provides to open one’s heart and soul.
There truly is something magical that a horse provides to the human spirit. Thank you Amy for providing the setting and skills to make a beautiful connection between heart, mind, and soul…and a horse.

At Heard Wellness Through Horses, we offer a variety of services and programs to people who are searching for a greater sense of empowerment and influence within their own lives, and a desire to heal that which no longer serves them.  My horses and I partner to provide various services based on the Equine Gestalt Coaching Method including individual private sessions and various open and closed groups.  We also provide one and two day workshop/retreats with various focuses, sometimes in partnership with other providers.

Areas of experience include working with people dealing with:

• Anxiety
• Depression
• Life transition
• Trauma
• Self harm behaviours
• Self-esteem issues
• Stress

I am particularly passionate about women transitioning to motherhood including perinatal mental health (people living with things such as depression and anxiety in pregnancy and postpartum) and working with social workers and other helping professionals who may have lost their passion for their work and are struggling to maintain balance.

The Equine Gestalt Coaching Method® The Equine Gestalt Coaching Method® was developed by Melisa Pearce, a core founder since 1989, of the horse-human healing movement. The experiential nature of the method involves the horse as an active partner with the coach in the client’s exploratory process. The integrative approach of the equine’s interaction combined with positive coaching, somatic awareness guidance and Gestalt methodology, assists the client in examining their life and choices made with a focus on designing a positive future.

Amy brings her past experience working with people and her love of horses to guide her clients in their healing process.
